On 27th October about 70 members of the Henley Wine Club attended a Bethany Wines tasting .
It was a fantastic evening at which the Club remembered their long association with Bethany, stretching back to its beginnings 20+ years ago.
For the wine of the night, it was a close call between the Eden Valley Riesling and the GR10 Shiraz. The GR10 came up trumps on a re-count!
The following wines were enjoyed:
2008 Bethany Steinbruch Riesling
2009 Bethany Eden Valley Riesling
2010 Bethany Semillon Sauvignon
2008 Bethany Chardonnay
2006 Bethany Old Vine Grenache
2007 Bethany Shiraz Cabernet
2007 Bethany Cabernet Merlot
2006 Bethany Barossa Shiraz
2005 Bethany GR10 Shiraz
NV Bethany White Frontignac Port

2006 Bethany LE Shiraz
Good hue and clarity, still bright; a rich, supple medium to full bodied palate is full of blackberry and plum fruit with an innate sweetness, finishing with ripe tannins that dry the finish nicely. Particularly elegant new label and packaging. Screwcap. Rating: 92 pts Drink 2020
2009 Bethany Riesling Eden Valley
Bright straw-green; an intriguing bouquet of lime zest/lime pastille, the palate with similiar fruit flavours but in a tighter mold; plenty of overall falvour. Screwcap Rating: 93 pts Drink 2016
